Key Advantages
Superior Slip Resistance
Matt and rustic GVT finishes achieve DCOF > 0.42 wet — safe for bathroom floors, kitchens, and outdoor covered areas.
5 Distinct Finishes
Matt, rustic, carving, sugar, and endless matt — each with unique aesthetic and functional characteristics.
Hides Dust & Footprints
The textured, non-reflective surface of GVT tiles is far more forgiving than polished tiles in everyday use.
Commercial Grade
PEI 4–5 rating and breaking strength > 1300N make GVT tiles suitable for offices, hotels, and retail spaces.
Frost Resistant
Water absorption < 0.5% means GVT tiles are frost-resistant and suitable for covered outdoor applications.
HD Digital Printing
High-definition inkjet printing reproduces marble, stone, wood, and abstract designs with photographic precision.
Understanding GVT Tiles: Technology & Benefits
GVT (Glazed Vitrified Tiles) are produced by applying a decorative glaze layer onto a vitrified tile body before the final firing. The vitrified body — made from a blend of clay, feldspar, and silica — is fired at over 1200°C, creating an extremely dense, low-porosity base. The glaze layer then fuses permanently to this body, providing both the decorative surface and an additional protective barrier.
The key advantage of GVT over traditional ceramic tiles is the vitrified body: water absorption below 0.5% versus 3–6% for ceramics. This makes GVT tiles suitable for areas exposed to moisture, heavy foot traffic, and temperature fluctuations. The glaze surface can be engineered in multiple finishes — from smooth matt to deeply textured carving — giving designers complete creative freedom without sacrificing durability.
GVT Finish Options from Livenza Granito
Our GVT range offers five distinct finish types to suit every design requirement:
- Matt Finish: Non-reflective, slip-resistant surface ideal for floor tiles in living rooms, bedrooms, and commercial spaces. Hides footprints and dust effectively.
- Rustic Finish: Slightly textured surface that mimics natural stone or aged wood, providing excellent grip and an organic aesthetic.
- Carving Finish: Three-dimensional relief patterns embossed into the glaze surface, creating dramatic shadow effects for feature walls and accent floors.
- Sugar Finish: Fine crystalline texture that sparkles subtly under light, offering a premium look between matt and gloss.
- Endless Matt: A continuous pattern design with no visible repeat, creating a seamless, natural-looking floor across large areas.
GVT vs PGVT: Which Should You Choose?
GVT tiles are the better choice when slip resistance, texture, and a natural aesthetic are priorities — such as for floor tiles in living areas, outdoor spaces, and commercial floors. PGVT (Polished GVT) is preferred when a high-gloss, reflective surface is desired for luxury interiors, feature walls, and spaces where visual brightness is important. GVT is also more forgiving in terms of maintenance, as the textured surface hides minor scratches and dust better than polished PGVT.
